Charge My Street

Governance and people

Charge my Street is a community benefit society, set up and registered with the Financial Conduct Authority in 2018 to install EV charging points for homes without off street parking.

The Society

Charge My Street Limited is a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, registered in England with the registered number 7704, and office at 35 The Firs, Alston, Cumbria, CA9 3RW. It has been registered since 2018.

Directors were elected by the members at the first AGM, which was held on 26 November, 2019. In accordance with co-operative principles, each member has one vote at general meetings, regardless of the number of shares they own.

Member benefits

Membership of the Society is afforded to holders of community shares. Charge My Street operates on a one member, one vote principle regardless of the size or value of the member’s shareholding

Every investor becomes a member of the Society, eligible to an equal vote on all matters at AGMs and in elections to the society’s board of Directors (elections in which any member can stand too).

In addition, Members can charge their cars at chargepoints at reduced rates (saving over a third on standard tariff).

The Board of Directors are volunteers with a rich mix of skills and experience.

The Board is made up of is made up of volunteers who are passionate about EVs and the transition away from fossil fuels.The board comprises of six members with a mix of skills covering project management, technology, community development, infrastructure, fundraising and business planning. The board meets monthly.

The team developing Charge My Street includes people employed by Charge My Street and people employed by our partner organisations.
