Common environmental performance indicators (CEPIs)

CEPIs are environmental performance indicators that are common to all businesses, no matter what their main business activity is.

First you will read about what the business sees as the main areas of environmental impact on which it should focus its efforts and what its policy is on addressing them.

The Carbon emissions shows the amount of carbon that is emitted as a result of the operations of the business, measured in tons of carbon dioxide per year. (Note: this is currently not consistently reported).

Travel to work shows the percentage of the business' employees that commute to work by foot, bicycle or public transport, and what the business is doing to help people travel to work by more environmentally friendly means.

Finally, Waste and recycling outlines the business’ policy on how to deal with its waste. Reducing, reusing and recycling waste all help to reduce the business’ environmental impact.
