Once you have considered the performance of a business, you need to look at the details of the product you are thinking of investing in.
Making an investment is a little like signing a contract with a business. You are investing your money on certain terms and it is important to understand what those terms are and what they might mean for you and your money.
The investment product pages cover four important areas:
- The financial return
- How much you can invest and how much it will cost you in fees
- How secure your money is, and how easy it is to get it back
- Other important issues such as how to keep track of your investment, any tax considerations and whether you get voting rights.
If what you are buying is a transferable share or bond, the process of investing is a little more complex. You can find a full description of the process of investing in transferable shares and bonds here.
