Solar for Schools CBS Ltd

Company  number: 7364
Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Incorporation date: 8th July 2016

Your money will…

  • Take decisive action to tackle climate change by funding solar panels on UK schools.

  • Replace existing expensive debt with more affordable finance so more schools can generate their own clean energy that is cheaper than they would otherwise pay.

  • Provide innovative education resources linked to the solar panels to inspire the next generation and their parents to decarbonise faster.

  • Earn potentially tax-free interest. Your investment will target a return of 2% +RPI (min 2% max 5%) and is eligible to be held within an IFISA.*

The bigger picture

Installing solar on schools has multiple benefits. Besides generating cleaner and cheaper energy for the schools, students get to experience solar power firsthand, helping them understand the challenges society faces and inspiring them to learn more and take positive action.

    • Every £50,000 invested into Solar for Schools saves around 300 tonnes of CO₂ over the lifetime of the panels, about the same as not flying to Australia and back 15 times.
    • To date, installations by Solar for Schools have generated 19,228 MWh of solar electricity, enough to drive an electric car around the world 2,399 times.
    • This has avoided 7,802 tonnes of CO2 and inspired approximately 80,000 students to fight climate change.
    • Solar for Schools work with pupils on educational programmes, giving them invaluable insights into the future of renewable energy generation.

*IFISA eligibility depends on investors' individual tax status and current legislation.

Where your money goes

Solar for Schools will use your investment to install new solar systems onto school roofs. Every £50,000 invested in solar panels on schools via Solar for Schools CBS will:

    • Fund the purchase and installation of around 200 solar panels (60kWp) on UK school roofs.
    • Generate enough electricity each year to drive an electric vehicle around the world 6 times.
    • Inspire and educate a future generation on the importance of clean energy generation.
    • Save a school between £30,000 and £70,000 in electricity costs over the lifetime of the system.
