New research, released by Ethex, the positive savings and investment platform that makes it easy to make money do good, shows that more than half of the eligible UK population is keen to make positive investments, but that industry needs to do more to educate people and provide a wider range of products.

Grace Njoroge is an entrepreneur, wife, and mother of three sons living in a town northeast of Nairobi called Thika. Like many other Kenyan women, she was struggling to sustain and grow her business and care for her family. As her hardware business continued to struggle, she decided to move into something more familiar: textiles. However, she was lacking the necessary capital and expertise not only to establish her new business, but to ensure that it thrived.

In rural Minas Gerais, Brazil’s biggest coffee-growing state, women used to support their husbands on small family farms but had little involvement or say in the business or farming decisions. This changed forever in 2006, when Oikocredit investee partner, Coopfam (Cooperativa dos Agricultores Familiares de Poço Fundo e Região) - a smallholder coffee co-operative, started to focus on empowering women to play an equal role in producing the Arabica coffee that had been a part of their lives for decades.
