Nottinghamshire Community Energy

Social performance

A Community Benefit Society acts for the benefit of the community. Nottinghamshire Community Energy aims to create local renewable energy generation that reduces the impact of climate change and improves the UK energy security.

Key Social Performance Indicators (KSPIs)

KSPIs are a measure of how the business is performing on delivering its main social or environmental purpose. Read more

KSPI 1 - Carbon Dioxide Reduced.

Langar Lane farm solar array is expected to save 2200 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the lifetime of the project.

KSPI 2 - Community Fund

The provision of significant local community benefits is central to NCE’s vision. The Society will recycle 100% of surplus profits into local communities in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire through the Community Fund.

The Fund will derive its income from the surpluses generated and aims for the Langar Lane Solar Farm to provide £25k per annum during the first 5 years. This amount will increase towards the later stages of the project. Over 25 years this could result in £1.5 million being available for distribution to local communities via the community fund.

Acceptance of this amount will be subject to a members’ vote at NCE’s AGM. The monies will then be donated to the community fund and will be allocated to projects brought forward by communities across Nottinghamshire.

Criteria for eligible projects supported through the community fund are likely to include wildlife conservation, climate change mitigation, carbon reduction (including local food, transport, waste projects etc) and reduction of fuel poverty.

KSPI 3 - Biodiversity

The Langar Lane Farm Solar Array, when built, will be managed for conservation purposes.
