Ecology Building Society 90-Day Notice Account

The money you save in Ecology Building Society's 90-Day Notice Account is used to support properties and projects that benefit the environment.


Your savings earn you interest, and make you a member, giving you a say in how Ecology is run.

The Ecology 90-Day Notice account is a tiered, long-term, variable rate savings account.

Investment product type


This account is suitable if you do not need immediate access to your funds. The account can be used to save for a specific purpose, such as a deposit for a mortgage or to save for your child’s future. Ecology Building Society members are limited to one 90-Day Notice account per member


The 90-Day Notice savings account is only available to individuals who were existing Ecology members as at 7 February 2020 and have continued to be members since this date.

Financial return

Interest rate policy

Ecology aims to offer savings interest rates that give good value for the long term. All Ecology savings products featured on the Ethex platform are available to both new and existing members and the Society does not use introductory or bonus rates. Ecology pays interest on all balances, however low, and pays interest on funds from the day of receipt.

The Regular Savings Account pays a variable rate of interest from 1.00% to 1.45% before tax, depending on the amount you save.

How interest is paid

Interest is credited to your account on 31st December each year. Interest amounts over £25 can either be credited to your account or automatically paid to your nominated bank account.

How secure is your money?

Ecology Building Society's 90-Day Notice Account is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS can pay compensation to shareholders and depositors if the Society is unable to meet its financial obligations. Most individuals and businesses are covered by the scheme. More details

An eligible shareholder/depositor is entitled to claim up to £85,000 in total across all Ecology accounts. For joint accounts each account holder is treated as having a claim in respect of their respective share so, for a joint account held by two eligible shareholders/depositors, the maximum amount that could be claimed would be £85,000 each (making a total of £170,000). 

Keeping track of your investments

Access to your account is by post. You can also view your savings account online at any time by registering for the Ecology Interactive service.

Ecology will send you an annual statement every January, as well as a regular newsletter highlighting some of the projects your money supports. As a member, you can also attend the annual general meeting.

Tax considerations

Interest will be paid gross, which means that no tax is deducted. It's your responsibility to pay any tax due, based on your individual circumstances.

Voting rights

This investment entitles you to one vote in Ecology Building Society, so long as you are a share holding member aged 18 or over on the date of voting and have remained so between the dates specified, and your account balance at the end of the previous financial year (or other dates as specified in the Rules) was more than £100.

This account provides the option to apply for an account on behalf of a child or in a child’s name.
