Governance and people

Thera is a group of sixteen companies which includes nine regional care and support companies, five specialist companies providing other services and Thera Trust which is the parent company that leads the group and one dormant company.

Each company has its own board of directors, which has responsibility for the overall running of the company. The board of each regional company includes a paid Executive Service Quality Director who has a learning disability. This structure was developed with Thera's vision in mind, ensuring that the people they support feel close to those leading the organisation which provides their support and promoting equality across the organisation. The regional structure also means that the board of each regional company can be more engaged with the people they support and the communities, in which they live, ultimately helping to provide more personalised support.

Thera has an executive team of four directors who are responsible for the strategic and professional leadership of the Charity. Three of the roles are held by appropriately qualified and experienced leaders with the fourth role being held by an individual who brings their experience of having a learning disability, along with their previous work experience, to the role. The team works collaboratively and collectively and they are able to demonstrate that there is someone with a learning disability working in a senior position within the Charity.

The executive team are also Trustees of the Charity and work alongside seven non-executive trustees.
