Ethex hosts event on community investing as part of London Climate Action Week
Ethex is very excited to be hosting a digital event as part of London Climate Action Week, which this year is working to showcase London’s climate leadership via over 40 online events and discussions focusing on achieving a green, fair and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 crisis from 1 - 3 July.
Our event is called "Community Investing - unleashing the power of your money to #BuildBackBetter". We will be hosting with representatives from Good With Money and Best Intentions and we’re using this opportunity to talk about the actionable, grassroots solutions to climate change that are already happening within our communities and how, with the right funding, these can be scaled to help deliver the behavioural transformation the UK needs to deliver on our net-zero carbon targets.
Our panel of experts will discuss ways that everyday people can use their money to directly fund scalable businesses and organisations, rooted in the communities that they serve to help build a fairer and more sustainable future.
Through a packed diary of digital events over the 3 days, London Climate Action Week will explore the role of green investment to rebuild economies, an international collaboration to address the climate crisis and the solutions for adaptation and resilience for an equitable transition to a sustainable future.
LCAW 2020 invites collaboration as governments, private finance, institutional investors, and NGOs, all have a crucial role to play in delivering economic recovery that is fit for the low carbon future. In this spirit of collaboration, Ethex will be joined by panellists from Good with Money and Best Intentions as well as representatives from organisations supporting these four key areas for a green recovery in the UK:
- Community-owned renewable energy projects (Solar for Schools)
- Electric Vehicle clubs and infrastructure providers (Co-Cars)
- Sustainable and affordable housing cooperatives and (London CLT)
- Local and sustainable production of good food.
Lisa Ashford, CEO of Ethex says:
“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, we have seen amazing examples of communities working together for good. We want to showcase innovative examples of grassroots community organisations and social enterprises who are working towards a more sustainable future.
We’ll be discussing some of the practical approaches that community organisations play in supporting the UK’s green recovery and how these can be replicated around the country. And we’ll look at the critical role that investors play in funding these organisations to drive the transformational change that 91% of people across the UK want to see as we look to supercharge the economy and build back better.”
"We're taking part in London Climate Action Week because we strongly believe that now is the time for everyday people in the UK to take action to make a green and equitable recovery happen. We're excited to be joined by a great panel to showcase the innovation that is happening in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable transport and food production and that communities are absolutely vital in creating the future that we all want to see."
