Join Ethex, with UK National Asbestos Register (UKNAR) for a cuppa and a chat to learn more about this extraordinary organisation that’s currently raising funds on the Ethex platform.

UKNAR is dedicated to preventing thousands of unnecessary deaths caused by accidental exposure to asbestos in workplaces, schools and hospitals across the UK. They have developed an innovative, simple solution built on SMART QR technology that aims to protect the public from the ongoing risk of asbestos exposures and deadly asbestos-related diseases.

Asbestos exposure is currently the UK’s biggest workplace killer. Asbestos is present in 1 in 5 workplaces and over 75% of schools and hospitals in the UK, resulting in 50,000 deaths per decade and costing the UK economy billions of pounds. UKNAR is a social enterprise that is dedicated to developing their simple Asbestos SMART technology to better alert and inform people about the presence and dangers of asbestos.

They are raising funds via Ethex to help them expand their operations to build a national database of known asbestos locations and enable people to check for the presence of asbestos at the click of a code on their smartphones, helping avoid accidental exposures that can lead to deadly mesothelioma cases, saving thousands for the NHS and taxpayers per case avoided. UKNAR are also donating 5% of their annual Asbestos SMART licence revenues to the charity Mesothelioma UK to support people suffering from this illness.

We’ll be speaking to Andrew Paten, CEO and Co-Founder of UKNAR who will explain the background to UKNAR, what they are trying to achieve and how.  We will also discuss how the funds raised through their investment offer will help them to achieve their targets, developing and rolling out the technology to prevent thousands of unnecessary deaths.
