The bigger picture

Kent Community Energy (KCE) has the potential to deliver clean, secure, and affordable energy to up to 1.57 million people across one of the UK’s most climate-vulnerable and energy-stressed regions. As the UK’s sunniest county, Kent offers immense potential for solar power, and KCE is determined to turn that sunshine into long-term benefits for local people, the planet, and purpose-driven investors. Their last investment raise on Ethex funded the development of community solar installations, adding to their strong solar track record. To date, they have:

  • Generated over 45 million kWh of clean electricity through its 5 MWp solar farm.
  • Saved an estimated 9,000 tonnes of CO₂ since commissioning.
  • Given £36,000 in community grants, helping local organisations tackle fuel poverty, improve biodiversity, and run green education programmes.

  • The portfolio created in the last raise will be installed by the end of April, delivering 458kW for four clients and saving 87MT CO₂ annually. Now, they are raising funds to bring even more community-powered solar projects to life. Plans for 2026 include installing up to 916kW of rooftop solar. Their growing portfolio will support a wide network of local partners, creating real impact where it matters most. Any investment raised over £600,000 will bs used to repay expensive borrowing, helping KCE deliver more community grants in the future and increase annual grant capacity to £100,000 per year, nearly 10 times the 2024 level
*IFISA eligibility depends on investors' individual tax status and current legislation.

What your money will do

Your investment in the Kent Community Energy Bond Offer will:

  • Fund the development of a 1 MW and growing pipeline of rooftop-mounted solar on a range of community and commercial buildings throughout Kent.
  • Prevent 191 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year (the equivalent to the average footprint of 32 UK households).
  • Deliver up to 50% energy bill savings for community organisations, freeing up funds for care, education, and wellbeing.
  • Support KCE’s growth by refinancing expensive debt, enabling them to take on another permanent staff member and increase grants to over £100,000 per annum
