Registration Number: 30875R
East Sussex, UK

Registration Date: 06 January 2010

Your money will…

  • Reduce carbon emissions by funding the installation of solar PV at three vital community organisations

  • Significantly cut energy bills at the three sites and reduce dependence on grid power

  • Nearly double OVESCO's existing community-owned solar capacity

  • Earn a target return of 5% per year from 2028

The bigger picture

OVESCO was founded in 2007 by local people in Lewes who believed communities should control where their energy comes from and how the benefits are shared. Since then, across fifteen rooftop installations on schools, community buildings and businesses in East Sussex, OVESCO has:

  • Raised £490,000 of community investment
  • Installed 230kWp of solar capacity
  • Helped avoid an estimated 1,446 tCO2e
  • Helped save an estimated £14,590 annually on energy bills
  • Saved 13.5 tonnes CO2e through free energy-saving kits and small measures.

What your money will do

Your investment directly funds the procurement and installation of 207kWp of solar PV capacity across three East Sussex sites: The Bevern Trust in Barcombe, a disability charity and significant local employer; Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare with 65,000 annual visitors; and Holmansbridge Farm near Barcombe, that feeds and connects its rural community.

    • Saving an estimated 1,123 tonnes of CO2 over the 25-year lifetime of the arrays
    • Helping these organisations significantly save on their energy bills while cutting their carbon footprint
    • Replace the short-term bridge finance that got these projects started, turning early-stage loans into long-term community ownership.
