The bigger picture

YnNi Teg is on a mission to develop renewable energy assets that Welsh communities can own and control to help meet their future energy needs and provide wider benefits to local communities.

As well as undertaking research and development projects to develop innovative projects that aid the expansion of community energy in Wales, they currently own and manage a number of clean energy assets that include a wind turbine, solar arrays and energy reduction initiatives.

To date, these assets have:

  • Created a fund of around £50,000 that’s used for vital community initiatives.
  • Generated enough clean energy to power more than 500 homes.
  • Mitigated 827 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

What your money will do

It’s your money, so you want to know where it goes and what kind of impact you’re making. Your investment in YnNi Teg will:

  • Fund the construction of a second 800kW wind turbine in Ceredigion, with planning permission and grant funding already in place.
  • Once operational, this will generate enough clean energy to power 750 homes and reduce UK CO2 emissions by about 9,750 tonnes over the lifetime of the project.
  • Create an additional £200,000 for the community benefit fund over the turbine’s 25-year lifetime, to help even more community organisations to decarbonise and save energy.
  • Empower the local community to own and control to help meet their future energy needs by sustainable community-owned energy generation.
