Ethex is pleased to announce a new partnership with CO2Sense who will invest up to £500,000 alongside everyday people (retail investors) to support low carbon businesses.

Ethex is today announcing a new partnership with CO2Sense who will invest up to £500,000 alongside everyday people to support low carbon businesses. The investment will help accelerate the UK’s transition to net-zero and to help build back better in a way that works for the whole of society.

By match funding and co-investing directly into extraordinary pioneering low carbon organisations, CO2Sense will help to crowd in a further £2 million of additional investment from retail investors supporting highly impactful organisations to scale and grow across the UK.

CO2Sense is a non-profit community interest company focused on the development of innovative low carbon businesses. The organisation will be providing £500,000 through its capital fund to co-invest in around 10 organisations listed on the Ethex platform focused on renewable energy, sustainable transport, green technologies and climate-smart agriculture.

This partnership is the latest example of how funding from institutional investors can be blended alongside retail investors to fund sustainable projects on the Ethex platform. At the end of last year, we announced co-funding partnerships with People’s Postcode Lottery and MCS Foundation of £1 million, which is already being deployed to help impactful organisations reach their funding targets.

Geoff Sinclair, Chairman, CO2Sense:

"Working with Ethex on this co-funding facility helps to mobilise investment into the UK’s low carbon business sector and achieve our net-zero goals.  We’re excited to be working with Ethex and their investors while furthering our mission to stimulate the growth of the British low carbon sector.

Lisa Ashford, CEO, Ethex:

It’s fantastic to be working with CO2 Sense to deploy direct investment into low carbon organisations alongside individual investors – providing the much needed and catalytic patient capital that these businesses need.

We’re seeing a significant uptick in interest from organisations like CO2 Sense wanting to invest in this way - acting as a significant catalyst for the sector by leveraging 4 – 5 times the initial investment from ordinary people and ultimately maximising the environmental and social impact that can be achieved as a result.”
