We’re over the moon with the investor reaction to the recent community share offer from Leeds Action To Create Homes (LATCH) that closed this week, having hit its maximum target raise of £550,000!

The popularity of the LATCH investment offer was evident when it hit its original target raise of £350,000 within two weeks and we’re delighted that they have raised the maximum before their end date.

LATCH, a Community Benefit Society based in the Chapeltown area of Leeds has been creating homes and transforming lives in the area for over 30 years.  They take derelict homes and transform them into homes for people who need them, helping them get their lives back on track while at the same time providing training and employment opportunities.

The money raised through the community share offer will enable LATCH to transform 8 more empty properties into 8 high quality and energy-efficient homes in Leeds, meaning that 8 adults and 4 children at any given time will move from homelessness or difficult housing to having decent, affordable and supported homes.

Lisa Ashford CEO of Ethex says: “The team at Ethex have been delighted, although not surprised, by the enthusiastic reaction of investors to the LATCH Community Share Offer. Investments will help LATCH create a real positive impact on lives, with the added benefit of sustainability in the homes created. We wish James and the whole dedicated team at LATCH every success.”

James Hartley, CEO of LATCH added: "
We are absolutely delighted with the success of the share issue and are amazed and proud of the faith that the investors have shown in us. We’d like to thank the investors and everyone at Ethex and all the other partners who have helped prepare and support this launch. The success of the share launch is a tribute to the work Latch have done over the years and we are now in a position to continue this work of creating homes and changing lives."
