Ethex investors taking action against homelessness

Great news from Common Ground Against Homelessness a groundbreaking organisation that raised finance on the Ethex platform as they open doors to new home for homeless men in Edinburgh.

We’re sharing some fantastic news from Common Ground Against Homelessness(CGAH), a groundbreaking organisation that raised finance on the Ethex platform.

At the end of 2020, CGAH launched a community share offer to raise £650,000 to help them realise their vision of making homelessness a thing of the past. From just £500, people across the UK invested to become a part of the solution to ending chronic homelessness in Edinburgh, whilst targeting a financial return of up to 5%.

The share offer was a great success, closing having raised a total of £684,000. Now, we can see the impact of those investments in action as their project to convert a four-bed Victorian townhouse into a nine-bed home-for-life for former street homeless men in Edinburgh has been completed!

Construction and decoration have been completed and the staff and tenants have now moved in and are enjoying their new homes. The nine-bed property will provide a secure home for life for men who have been living on the streets. Staff will be on-site 24/7 to support tenants with their addiction and mental health issues.

CGAH offer a unique approach to dealing with homelessness, where tenants are supported to overcome their addictions but are not rejected because of them. The home offers a safe place for people to live where they are treated with respect.

The team at Ethex are delighted to see the project come to life and our investors can see that their money is working to make a real difference to lives.

A spokesperson from CGAH said: “CGAH are delighted that the adaption of the Peffermill property is complete with 9 studio flats completed along with the common and support areas. The property has been handed over to Rowan Alba who have most importantly, now accepted their first tenants with all 9 flats already occupied and providing homes for life. This could not have happened without your investment and support for which we are most grateful.”
