Investor doubles his impact in Fair for You

An individual investor pledged £45,000 in match funding on Ethex to encourage more people to invest in Fair for You

We love helping people use their money to drive real social change, and one of our investors has just taken that idea to the next level. Alan, a long-time Ethex investor with a background in the investment industry, pledged £45,000 in match funding to support the Fair for You 8% IFISA Bond Offer.

That means that every pound invested will be matched pound-for-pound (up to £45,000), effectively doubling the impact of each new investment.  And the pledge was successful, with investors making up the match amount within days! 

Fair for You is a not-for-profit lender providing affordable, flexible credit to low-income families across the UK. Their work helps people buy essential items like beds, cookers and fridges without turning to high-cost or exploitative lenders. This bond raise will fund their expansion into Scotland, where 36% of adults are financially vulnerable. Alan explains his motivation:

“The availability of flexible and sensitive credit for people who can’t easily access mainstream finance makes such a difference. I want my investments and savings to align with my values, and I hope this match encourages more people to take part.”

Investors in the Fair for You 8% Bond receive target annual returns of 8%, and the bonds are IFISA-eligible, meaning those returns can be earned tax-free. With investments starting from just £50, it’s an accessible way for everyday people to make a real impact. Ethex CEO Chris Butler said:

Thanks to Alan and other investors, the bond offer has now passed its £500,000 target and is over-raising to reach the £1 million maximum.
