Oxfordshire affordable homes investment success
The team at Ethex are delighted with the success of the recent share offer from Oxfordshire Community Land Trust (OCLT) that closed recently, having raised 117% of its target.
OCLT is an extraordinary organisation that is championing community-led housing as part of the solution to the growing affordable housing crisis in Oxfordshire. Oxford is the second least-affordable city in the UK and as the cost-of-living crisis bites for families and key workers, many are finding themselves priced out of rental homes in the area, having a negative effect on the local community.OCLT was formed to take direct action against this crisis and has started by creating a development of high-quality, affordable, energy-efficient homes for eight families or individuals with a strong local connection in Oxfordshire. In order to ensure this vital project went ahead, OCLT needed to source more affordable finance, at a time when variable commercial loan rates keep rising, to complete the construction of the development.
The share offer proved hugely popular with supporters, the local community and Ethex investors and surpassed the £500,000 target raise and closed having raised over £580,000.
The development of 8 homes at Dean Court, Cumnor Parish, west Oxford is well on its way to completion with the first residents due to move into their homes in June this year.
