We’re pleased to welcome three ex-Ripple Energy co-operatives to Ethex
Ethex has officially been appointed the member registrar for three large-scale community energy co–operatives formerly managed by Ripple Energy, which went into administration last year.
In March last year, Graig Fatha Wind Co-op, Derril Water Solar Park and Kirk Hill Wind Farm were all left without management when Ripple Energy went into administration. The co-operatives were steered through a period of uncertainty by hard-working and diligent volunteer directors who stepped up in the interim before Communities for Renewables CIC (CfR) and Ethex were appointed.
In June 2026, we started the onboarding of CfR of 15,000 members and volunteer directors for Graig Fatha Wind Co-operative, which part-owns a single wind turbine in South Wales, and they're now onboarded. These are now completed.
The onboarding process is being conducted in stages, and Derril Waters and Kirk Hill members are now underway. Co-operative members, once onboarded, then have access to a membership dashboard on our secure, online registry service, enabling them to receive payments and manage their holdings with visibility, ease, and confidence.
Our mission is to empower people to align their money with their values and help organisations access vital funding, among other positive impacts, to deliver local, clean energy solutions, and to this end Ethex has a long-standing partnership with CfR, having previously raised capital and provided registry services to clients managed by CfR.
Jake Burnyeat, Director of CfR, said “Supporting this next chapter of the Graig Fatha Co-op is exactly the kind of impact we’re proud to enable.
“Ethex has proven to be a reliable partner in providing registrar services for our community energy clients over the years. They have both the industry know-how and the added benefit of being committed to social value, which is an important factor for CfR in any organisation we work with.”
We’re proud to be able to welcome thousands of the stranded members to Ethex, so they’ll be able to view their certificates and manage payments as well as choose to invest in other positive impact organisations on Ethex, and thank the members for their support in helping us get them securely onboarded."
