Welcome to Ethex Kirk Hill investors

KIRK HILL

Setting up your Ethex account

We're creating your Ethex account so you can view your shares in Kirk Hill, manage your details, and receive future payments into your secure wallet.

THE PROCESS

What happens now

Category 1 – Members whose shares have been added to their accounts before 24th Sept

Your shares have now been added to your Ethex account. You will receive your Kirk Hill member savings payment through your Ethex wallet shortly.

Category 2 – Members who have completed an Ethex onboarding form

We are currently processing the information you submitted in preparation for the Know Your Customer (KYC) checks. These checks will begin at the end of September and may take up to six weeks to complete.

Once the checks are completed, we will set up Ethex accounts for members who successfully pass the KYC process. We will let you know when your account is set up and you can log in and check your details. We will give you 2 weeks to check your details and then your payment will be added to your wallet.

We will contact any members who do not pass the checks separately with further information.

Category 3 – Members who have not had any contact with Ethex

You can register directly on our website at ethex.org.uk and set up an account

FAQS

Your questions answered

Kirk Hill Co-op have created some FAQs for its members relating to onboarding with Ethex. Any questions about setting up your Ethex account, share certificates, payments and changing your personal details please email registry@ethex.org.uk. Who is Ethex?
Ethex is the UK’s leading positive investment platform, founded in 2013. It has helped over 43,000 people invest in projects and organisations creating a fairer more sustainable future raising more than £135 million to date for community energy, affordable housing and finance, sustainable farming and more. Ethex also provides secure registry and investor relations services for over 50 clients, giving you access to an online dashboard where you can view and manage your investments.

Why am I hearing from Ethex?
Kirk Hill Co-op has appointed Ethex to provide registrar services for its members. This means your records, documentation, member savings payments, tax certificates, probate matters and investor services will now be managed securely by Ethex. The only way Kirk Hill Co-op can now make payments to members is via Ethex.

Do I have to pay anything to use Ethex?
No. Setting up your account and receiving member savings payments via Ethex is completely free.

What if I've registered and haven't yet heard from Ethex?
Ethex are currently working through around 2,000 members who need to go through a Know Your Customer (KYC) check. This should be fully completed by the end of November. Ethex will be in touch when your account has been set up.

What if I already have an Ethex account? If you’ve used Ethex before, you can log in with your existing account. Once you complete the ID check, your Kirk Hill holding will be added to your portfolio.

What if I don’t want to set up an Ethex account? To continue receiving member payments and access your membership records, you will need to open an Ethex account. This is the only way we can provide you with secure investor services.

What will I be able to do on Ethex?

Your new dashboard will allow you to:
- View your investment portfolio and receive investment alerts from your organisation.
- Receive payments, download tax certificates and update your personal details and communication preferences
- Opt in to hear about other impactful investment opportunities on Ethex

What about share certificates?
Your Kirk Hill share certificate will be issued once you’ve completed the onboarding process. You’ll receive a notification when they’re ready.

Why does my shareholding look lower than what I initially invested?

We understand Ripple applied a one-off administration fee of 7.2 % or 8.4% to Kirk Hill Co-op investments. Therefore, your shareholding may be lower than the total amount you originally paid. If you still have a copy of your Ripple Customer Agreement for Kirk Hill Co-op / Ripple Co-op 2 Ltd, your shareholding is stated under “Your Wattage Amount” in the definitions section around page 5. The shareholding in your Ethex wallet should be the same as this.   If your shareholding in your Ripple Customer Agreement is significantly different to the amount allocated to your Ethex account, or it has been recorded in a different name to the name on your Ripple Customer Agreement, please get in touch directly by email: help@ethex.org.uk

What happens to my member payments?
You can choose where member payments are sent. Either directly to your bank account or to your Ethex wallet, where you can withdraw funds or reinvest in other opportunities. Please note that all the payments, by default, will go to your Ethex wallet.

Where can I find out about my payments to date?
Once you are set up with an Ethex account you will be able to view your shareholding and information about payments made via Ethex. We cannot provide information on past payments made via your energy supplier.

What if I want to transfer / sell / buy more shares?

As set out in the share offer, Kirk Hill Co-op shares are non-transferable. That means you cannot sell or transfer them to another person, except on death of a member when shares can be transferred in accordance with the member’s will and probate process.   Kirk Hill Co-op’s intention is to repay a percentage of member capital each year to all members so that all capital is returned by the 20th year of the windfarm’s operation.   Members can apply to have their capital withdrawn early, at the discretion of the board. However, the Kirk Hill Board is currently not accepting applications for withdrawal. If, in future, the board decides to allocate funds to early capital repayment or invite interest from members interested in purchasing more shares, the members will be contacted and a process and policy provided.

What if the member has passed away? (Probate) If you are dealing with the estate of a member, please contact probate@ethex.org.uk and our team will guide you through the probate process. We will need to see certain documents (such as the death certificate and Grant of Probate) before we can update the records.

Can I hold my investment jointly or transfer it to someone else?
Kirk Hill Co-op shares can only be held in a single name. If your shareholding has been recorded in the wrong, please get in touch at registry@ethex.org.uk We will request a copy of your Ripple Customer Agreement which will state the name of the shareholder.

What if I change my bank account or contact details?
You can update your bank account information and other personal details securely in your Ethex dashboard at any time. If you change your email address Ethex will share any updates with CfR who manage the member newsletter.
